Enjoy the weather and celebrate that special birthday in the park. When deciding on food, think about convenience, storage and easy clean up.

One of the most challenging parts of organizing a birthday party is planning out the food. When having a birthday party in the park, it adds another layer of difficulty in that all of the food needs to be transported to another location. These menu ideas make taking the party food to the park simple and easy.

Let the Birthday Party Guests Make Their Own Meal: Hot Dogs

If there is a grill anywhere near the area of the birthday party, consider making hot dogs. Add buns and some condiments and the main course is complete. For this menu item, there are not a lot of things to remember to bring to the park and a cooler can be packed with the hot dogs and condiments together. Because each guest makes his or her own hot dog creation, the host or hostess is not left to do all of the work. Grill the hot dogs, set them out and allow people to make their own meal. Clean up is easy with all of the paper plates, napkins and leftovers headed into the trashcan.

Foot-long Sandwiches Keep the Meal Light

Call the local deli, grocery store, or sandwich restaurant to find the best deal on foot-long subs. Usually they come in a variety of sizes, making it easy to choose how much food will be needed to feed the number of birthday party guests. Pick up the subs right before guests start to arrive so that the meat and cheese is not out long enough to spoil. Cut the sandwich before the guests arrive to ensure there is enough for everyone.

Much like the hot dogs, condiments are the only thing needed to complete this menu item. Because paper products can be uses, clean up is simply throwing everything into the trash when finished.

Fruit and Vegetable Trays for Light Snacks

Throwing a party doesn't always mean presenting a full course meal to all who are in attendance. Sometimes, guests just need something to snack on as the party progresses. Many stores have pre-made trays that include either vegetables or fruit and sometimes come with a dipping sauce in the middle. Set these trays out on the table and if needed, add extra dips or even chips to keep things easy.

This is not only an easy menu idea, but it is a healthy alternative to most birthday party food. Fruit and vegetable trays can also be made by the host or hostess to add a little extra touch. Remember to wash everything before cutting up and presenting to the guests.

Birthday parties at the park can be enjoyable with easy menu ideas.
